Empowering Futures: Coco Coalition's 2025 Scholarship Applications Are Now Open!

We are thrilled to announce that the 2025 Coco Coalition Scholarship Applications are officially open!


Each year, Coco Coalition proudly supports the academic and personal growth of Black college women who are making impactful strides in Health, Civic Engagement, and the Arts. These scholarships are more than just financial aid—they're an investment in leaders who are shaping our communities and the world.


Angela Heath Mental Health Scholarship

Purpose: This scholarship honors Angela Barbara Heath, the mother of co-founder Tiffany Wright. Angela was a vocal advocate for mental health awareness and holistic healing, drawing from her own experiences as a complex trauma survivor.

Eligibility:

  • Declared major in human or social sciences fields such as psychology, sociology, social work, or human development.

  • Aimed at those planning to enter the mental health field.

     

Byron + Lolita Civic Engagement Scholarship

Purpose: Named after the parents of co-founder Jasmine McGee, this scholarship celebrates Byron Thompson and Lolita Hancock's commitment to legal and community service.

Eligibility:

  • Declared major in fields related to civic engagement or public policy, including administration of justice, political science, public administration, civil rights, ethnic studies, or sociology.


Dereje Haile Arts Scholarship

Purpose: This scholarship honors Dereje Haile, the father of co-founder Mimo Haile, who had a deep appreciation for the arts, particularly photography, music, and dance.

Eligibility:

  • Declared major in artistic fields such as drawing, painting, photography, graphic design, culinary arts, music, or literature.




Eligibility Criteria:

Successful applicants will:

  • be a women of the African Diaspora

  • complete a scholarship application

  • possess a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be in good standing

  • be enrolled in a US-based college or university as an undergraduate student.

  • display a financial need based on student FAFSA expected family contribution (EFC) and college's cost of attendance

Application Process:

  2. Complete and submit the application by the specified deadline.

  3. Final candidates will be contacted for a personal interview with our scholarship committee.

Important Dates:

  • Application Opens: June 1

  • Application Deadline: June 30

  • Scholarship Recipients Announced: August 31
