Every year, the Coco Coalition is proud to offer scholarships that support the development of Black college women pursuing degrees in Health, Civic Engagement, and the Arts. These areas of focus are inspired by the legacy of our founders’ parents, whose deep passion for these fields continues to guide our mission.
Today, we are thrilled to introduce the 2024 Coco Scholars, three brilliant young women whose commitment to their communities and academic excellence exemplifies the spirit of Coco’s mission.
Daydrianna Jeffries – Senior, Social Work, University of Louisville, Angela Heath Mental Health Scholar
As a first-generation college student, Daydrianna is pursuing a degree in Social Work and plans to earn her Master’s and become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). With a focus on mental health, social justice, and educational inequities, she has contributed research toward reducing racism-related distress in Black families. Through collaborations with organizations like Play Cousins, she is shaping advocacy and trauma-informed interventions that address the needs of marginalized communities.
Daydrianna also serves as President of the Kent School Student Social Work Association (KSSA), leads the “PEACCFul Connections” series on interpersonal violence prevention, and mentors fellow students through TRIO Student Support Services. Her dedication to service earned her the prestigious 2024 President’s Volunteer Service Award for completing over 200 service hours.
Hailee Clack – Junior, Political Science, Hampton University, Byron + Lolita Civic Engagement Scholar
Hailee Clack’s academic and leadership achievements are nothing short of extraordinary. As a Political Science major with a pre-law focus, she is actively shaping the political landscape through her leadership roles. As President of Black Girls Vote and Director of Professional Development for Hampton University’s Student Government Association, she is passionate about empowering underrepresented communities.
Her recognition as a 2024 White House HBCU Scholar and membership in the National Council of Negro Women reflect her tireless advocacy for social justice. Hailee’s entrepreneurial spirit shines through in her founding of *The FBC Initiative*, an organization that combats systemic educational disparities and promotes HBCU enrollment through the annual ‘Flint to HBCU Forum.’
Ary’ana Nevaeh Davis – Junior, Fine Arts, University of Florida, Dereje Haile Arts Scholarship
Ary’ana Davis is a force in the world of musical theatre, blending her passion for performance with her dedication to uplifting Black cultural heritage. As the founder of The Elite Chompettes Majorette Dance Team—the first of its kind at UF—Ary’ana has created a space for celebrating Black dance culture on campus. Her leadership extends to her involvement with SISTUHS, Incorporated, and her role as Miss Krimson and Kream for Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, where she excels in both artistic and community-focused endeavors.
Ary’ana is driven by a desire to inspire others to pursue their artistic passions fearlessly, and she continues to make a mark in the performing arts world.
These incredible scholars represent the future of leadership, creativity, and social change. Coco Coalition is honored to support their journeys, and we look forward to seeing the transformative impact they will have on the world.
Please join us in celebrating Daydrianna, Hailee, and Ary’ana—our 2024 Coco Scholars!
